We read about it seemingly all the time. We even see it on TV. Women head to the hospital for an unknown ailment and then end up delivering a baby, completely unaware that they were even pregnant. If you’ve ever had a baby, you may wonder how it could possibly happen. What about all the symptoms?
Do women really make it nine months without any nausea, ligament pain, stretch marks, and, hello … a growing belly? Yes, it’s true. It happens, and one young woman is here to tell her tale.
She thought it was appendicitis.
In a viral TikTok that now has 16.8 million views, 21-year-old college student Kayla Simpson explained that she started experiencing sharp pain in her abdomen out of nowhere while she was at a party.
She quickly went to the hospital with what she thought had to be appendicitis, but emergency room doctors were stumped. Thankfully, her mom was there to help her through the pain. Then her mom saw “something familiar on the screen,” according to the text on the clip.
Suddenly the pain was extremely intense.
“I started screaming in pain and the doctor ran in.” The TikTok, visually screaming with large text, read, “It was a head!”
Doctors rushed Simpson away, and after 15 minutes and three pushes, she was holding her beautiful baby girl, Madi.
Seriously, how did she not know?
Simpson claimed she had no physical indication that she was pregnant. She wasn’t in denial. She honestly had no idea that she was expecting.
“I had no bump, my period and was the skinniest I’ve ever been.”
It’s pretty hard to argue with that. We don’t know that we would think anything was going on either.
Simpson says that life is good.
She said that after the delivery, she stayed in the hospital for two days and brought home her “best friend.” Madi is about to turn a year old, and Kayla said, “We are doing amazing!”
The comment section has more than 7,600 messages for Simpson.
Of course, people couldn’t believe what they were reading.
“I just can’t comprehend as my 30wk fetus throws a literal rave inside my uterus like HOW DID YOU NOT FEEL THIS ,” one woman commented.
“just don’t know how this happens. I’m 32 weeks now and feel my baby CONSTANTLY. Just .. how do you not know???” someone else wondered.
Others felt like this was the way to do pregnancy.
“I low key think this is best possible scenario. Clearly that meant you didn’t have many pregnancy symptoms … and a quick birth? Hell ya,” another person wrote.
Then, a woman shared that something similar had happened to her recently. “Two weeks ago, I had a urinary tract infection and went to urgent care with the worst pain of my life and they saw I was pregnant (me not knowing at all). Two days later I had my daughter.”
The questions went on, so Simpson posted a follow-up with answers.
She explained that she had left college earlier that year and was living at home with her family. She had not been drinking or partying much during her pregnancy and spent most of her time at home.
She claimed that she still had a period and no other symptoms. She even showed a shot of herself at six months pregnant in a bikini with absolutely no bump. There is also a hilarious text exchange between her parents, who were in utter disbelief.
The original video is text with Meghan Trainor’s “I Made You Look” playing in the background. In the ultimate compliment, Trainor herself commented on the video, writing, “Wowwwwww ur incredible she’s perfect .”
Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl. We wish you and Madi all the best!
