One of the only good things about winter is getting to eat freshly fallen snow. Reese Witherspoon understands this and shared a TikTok debuting a tasty snow treat she created. The snowy concoction looks delicious, but of course the people of TikTok had something to say.
Quickly, the comment section filled with people trying to discourage Witherspoon from enjoying her snow day treat, and she actually took the time to address their concerns.

Reese decided to take advantage of the fresh snow.
“OK, so we've had a ton of snow over the past few days. We decided to make a recipe,” Reese says at the start of the video. Someone then takes two mugs and scoops snow off the window of a car before bringing them inside. The person tops the freshly packed snow with chocolate and salted caramel syrups before adding some cold brew.
“Snow days were made for Chococinnos ❄️☕️,” she captioned the video.
Of course, people had something to say about her treat.
People immediately started to comment on the video, wasting no time telling the actress that they thought her treat was dangerous.
“Can you put snow in a clear cup and let it melt I just want to see if it's safe to eat first ,” one person commented.
“ No no no.. snow is not made to eat.. u can get seriously sick ☹️,” another person wrote.
“I love you Reese, personal anecdote: As someone who grew up in Minnesota, our teachers would always melt snow to show up how dirty it was and not to eat it! Be careful out there ,” someone else warned.
Reese acknowledged the comments in several follow-up videos.
“There's so many people on here saying that snow is dirty,” she says in one video. “So we went and took snow from the backyard, and we microwaved it — and it's clear. Is this bad? Am I not supposed to eat snow?” she asks.
In another video she declares, “Ok, so we're kind of in the category of, like, you only live once. And it snows maybe once a year here. I don't know. Also, I want to say something — it was delicious.”

She reminded her fans that drinking 'clean' water wasn't always the norm.
“We drank out of the tap,” she says in yet another video. “We actually put our mouths on the tap. And then sometimes, like in the summer it was hot, we drank out of a hose. Like we put our mouths on the hose.
“Maybe that’s why I’m like this,” she jokes in the clip.
So, is it safe to eat snow or not?

Staci Simonich, professor of environmental and toxic ecology at Oregon State University, says that yes there are pesticides and other yucky stuff in snow. But even knowing that, eating snow is not a “risk to health.”
“I would not hesitate for my children to have the joy of eating a handful of fresh fallen snow from my backyard. … Because the pesticide concentrations are low and the amount of snow eaten in a handful is small, so the one-time dose is very low and not a risk to health,” she told NPR.
