Jack, a little boy in England, is being hailed a hero today for being in the right place at the right time. While police officers were pursuing a robbery suspect in Gosport, England, Jack was nearby with his bike. Officer Harriet Taylor approached the lad and asked if she could borrow his wheels, with a sincere promise that she would return it. Before he knew what hit him, she was gone.
A hilarious video shows Taylor speeding away on the tiny bike, hoping to catch the suspect. With a bit of quick thinking and fast peddling, police arrested the suspect, and Jack got his bike back. But not before Taylor got a heck of a workout.

The pedal pursuit took place on September 8.
Gosport Police explained on Facebook that they were looking for a male burglary suspect early Friday. While Taylor was searching, she saw Jack on the side of the road with his bike and got an idea.
The Facebook post read: "NO, YOU WEREN'T MISTAKEN: If you thought you spotted PC Taylor riding a child's bike in the town centre earlier this evening, we can confirm that your eyes weren't deceiving you. She was indeed riding a child's bike in the town centre earlier this evening! It was a bicycle she'd just borrowed from Jack in the White Lion Walk area, and one which was needed during the search for a wanted Gosport man."
It was like something out of a movie.
BBC Breakfast shared video of Taylor on Jack's bike, describing the scene as something we have all probably seen on TV or in the movies. Taylor knew she'd be able to move a bit faster on the bike than by foot, so when the opportunity to nab some wheels presented itself, she grabbed them.
"Knowing she needed some pedal power to assist in the capture of the 47-year-old suspect, PC Taylor approached the lad and had the following very brief conversation with him…PC Taylor: Please can I borrow your bike? I will return it to you. A Slightly Stunned Jack: Erm… yeah, okay then," the post reads.
Taylor kept her promise.
Gosport Police shared a picture of Taylor and Jack. They thanked him for his assistance and offered a little help in the future. "Pictured is PC Taylor, alongside the little hero who yesterday came to our rescue! Thanks again young man! Just let us know if you ever want to borrow one of our police cars!"
The plan worked!
Gosport Police posted that police caught up with the suspect and arrested him. He is currently in police custody on suspicion of theft, burglary, and shoplifting. If it weren't for Jack, who knows what might have happened?
"It was a truly brilliant joint-effort from everyone involved!" police wrote.

The story quickly went viral.
The pedaling police officer's story made it to TV, radio, and got lots of coverage on social media. People can't get enough of the great teamwork.
"MADE IT: Right, that's it, we're all retiring now! We've made BBC Breakfast! And the New York Post. Hope the little legend, who loaned us his bike, is loving his fame and celebrity status! He's probably signing autographs in the playground as we speak," Gosport Police shared on Facebook.
"Well done police for making the news iam very proud of u what a good job u have done," a comment reads.
"This little lad is a legend xx," another person agreed.
